• 1 cup butter (2 sticks)
• 1 ½ cups sugar
• 2 eggs
• 2 ¾ cups flour
• 2 tsp. cream of tartar 
• 1 tsp. baking soda
• ¼ tsp. salt 

Heat oven to 400. Mix butter, eggs and sugar thoroughly. Blend all dry ingredients; stir in. Roll in balls the size of small walnuts. Roll in a mixture of 2 tbsp sugar and 2 tsp cinnamon. Place 2 inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8 to 10 min (cookies puff up first, then flatten out). Makes about 5 dozen 2 inch cookies.
